There are loads of great websites which are packed with even more hiking information . . . good news for hikers who need that little bit more information.
The Pacific Crest Trail Association – their mission is to “protect, preserve and promote the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail as an internationally significant resource for the enjoyment of hikers and equestrians, and for the value that wild and scenic lands provide to all people”. They also have more useful information about the Pacific Crest Trail than you could shake a stick at!
Appalachian Trail Conservancy – work hard to manage and preserve the Appalachian Trail for future generations. If you want to know more about hiking the Appalachian Trail, this is the resource link for you (well, not the word “this”, but the link at the beginning of this Appalachian Trail Conservancy hiking information stuff. No, I don’t think you’re stupid, but I do like to make myself clear, just in case.

(Once again you don’t have to click on “this”, are you beginning to see how this stuff works – good).

There are thousands miles of terrific hiking trails criss-crossing America, and this is a great place to find out a little more about them.

Camping – you don’t have to go camping when you’re hiking, and you don’t have to go hiking when you’re camping, but the two do go together rather well like a fine wine and mature cheese! So, for information on all things camping and hiking (including buying new hiking boots, the best type of back pack for your needs and what size tent you really need) take a quick look at this useful website. In fact, don’t take a quick look at all, take your time to really look around.
National Park Service – the US National Park Service website has information on all the National Parks in the country, so it’s a great place to search for your nearest national park when you feel the need to take a hike, and there are other great features like web cams, podcasts, movies, photos and interactive stuff.

American Hiking Society - this website helps you to get even more out of your hiking experiences (and share them with others).
